okay, so! shylock has this magical sixth sense where he can tell that someone is a witch or a wizard, and it can extend to objects that the person is holding or magical/supernatural folk that don't necessary fall under the magical category so long as they're not actively hiding their powers from anyone. i usually just play fast and loose with this since he most likely won't do anything with this information except to keep it in mind for future reference, but if your chara is super-duper powerful on the inside that shylock could easily pick up on it, let me know!

please reply here with your characters' names and journal names indicating whether shylock can sense if your chara is something other than a normal human or non-magical person, or if you don't want him to sense anything! i don't mind. any details you can provide about what he can or cannot sense would be ideal too.

okay so nia's a weapon and he can tell she's not human ofc (it's obvious bc of the ears anyway -) but technically she also has a magical weapon inside of her? he can prob sense... the presence of a magical object but he won't be able to see it until she actually takes it out...

just emily here, and i don't mind! if the wings weren't a giveaway, she's got a daitengu spirit fused to her own, so it might feel either like one soul's that's weird and too big or two that are overlapping and one definitely is magic and one isn't.

Matoba is an exorcist clan head from a very long bloodline of exorcists and thus normally has CRAZY amounts of spiritual power, but currently that is sealed by Jigokucho's nerfing. What Shylock may still be able to sense is that Matoba wears a paper spelltag over his right eye to protect it, which may feel nebulously Bad since it has an inherited curse over it that is connected to a really powerful, really gross-feeling youkai.

Exorcists are also categorized as a specific term under general 'spellcasters' in NatsuYuu so if you want to say he feels like an eastern wizard or w/e then go for it!

astrid with shuten (osake) here — i'm very OK with shylock sensing whatever you like about this oni! her servant powers have been significantly nerfed in jigoku-cho, but i'm sure she still reads as a spirit or magical familiar of sorts.

apart from that, she's magical by default, being a youkai (oni), but probably reads more like a monster in that sense. she also has a bit of divine blood in her. have at her!!

Oh right I should mention the lizard

Natori's an exorcist human blah blah we been knew but he's got this weird little lizard that lives on his skin like so. This lizard is a youkai who just happens to live on this human's body! So he possibly feels like 1) a human with powers and 2) an accompanying small freeloading spirit

AH SORRY i should have filled this out before when we started threading, but what you already wrote works perfect bc while andy's a (pseudo)immortal, the nature of that immortality is unclear in her canon, only that it's not something that they've been able to explain with any kind of science. SO VAGUE... SUPERNATURAL... MAYBE??? which you're welcome to interpret however you like!

hello! and ahhh i get it now! in shylock's case he can't really put a finger in what andy is because he's always been around humans and wizards only so anyone who falls outside those two categories is where he's at a loss, RIP.... so for now he's going to put her at the gray, supernatural area!
