[ fortunately the place is still standing, thanks to a certain sword who drove off some of their more antagonistic forces. but most of the lights are off, there's rubble and broken glass on the floor, and some of the furniture has been upturned. only the bar looks relatively untouched, if only because shylock has been manning it for most of the time.

[ the man of the hour can be found behind the bar per usual, the pipe in his hands emitting a sweet scent of yuzu and cinnamon. his smile this time does not reach his eyes, but at least he's mustering up one. ]
So glad of you to come. As you can imagine, business has not been so kind since the scuffle between the two clans begin once more.
[the destruction is taken in, but most of her focus is taken up by the man behind the bar himself, looking him over from head to...as much as she can see, trying to assess him for injuries. she looks the slightest bit flushed, either from haste or whatever coaxed out "honesty", and her wings aren't so tightly held to her back, but beyond that, she seems entirely herself.
and right now, "herself" means that worry is openly across her features]
Business - but what about yourself? Did they manage to injure you?

[ a gentle shake of his head. ] Let's just say an old friend managed to fend them off for the most part.
[ does hizen have no idea how much he saved shylock's bar that one time? shylock will have to thank him more properly in the future. ]
Now, now, no need to worry about me. I'd like to meet more of Miss Emily Dyer outside of her clinical personality, to be honest. [ he gestures a hand at the bar stool in front of him -- all cleaned up just for her. ] Will you sit down and keep me company for a little while?
[and taking a seat, there's a twinge of familiarity, though she'd never dream of comparing Shylock's establishment to where she used to go in Hakagemachi. this place has a warmth to it the other lost long ago.]
I'd hate to leave you on your own, on a night like this.
Are you that concerned for me? Truly, I'm touched. [ he places a hand on his chest. ] But commotions such as these are commonplace in my realm. I wouldn't be able to live this long if a simple matter such as a ruined bar would set me back.

But that is good to know. We wizards only have ourselves to look out for, and thus it is rare for other people [ read: humans ] to look at us in a more sympathetic light. Us Westerners in particular are lovers, night fighters.

It's Japanese sake. [ he breathes out a sheepish chuckle. ] It has been quite a while since I had it, after I made myself busy with my establishment. But perhaps one day we can visit a sake bar together.
And thus for now, let me regale you with a personal favorite of mine.
[ he's too exhausted to use his magic right now, so he's going to make this simple drink by hand -- but it's no less mesmerizing to watch thanks to his fancy handiwork as he prepares a glass of sangria for a friend. ]
[there's something to be said that the connoisseur is kept from his own enjoyment by the pleasure seeking of so many others. there's something poetic about it, but then one recalls the current state of things, and all poetry is gone.
the wine offset by the fruit, a taste to be sipped and appreciated, vibrant but not overwhelming. it's something she quite enjoys, by the look on her face and how she smiles.]
It makes me think of summer nights...the refreshing ones after a long and hot day.
